Project Description
This project aims to improve the resilience of Palestinian women men and children by improving the livelihoods and strengthening the resilience of 4 510 vulnerable households including small-scale farmers herders and Bedouins in West Bank and Gaza. Project activities include: providing veterinary services to support animal health and production; distributing seeds and tree seedlings; and improving access to water by promoting the recycling of used water (greywater). The project also supports women farmers and herders in undertaking income-generating activities such as developing milk diary production. The women receive training in technical assistance by an expert in dairy production distribution and marketing. This project is one of over 140 projects that make up the United Nations' 2013 Consolidated Appeal Process (CAP) for the West Bank and Gaza. The 2013 CAP worth over US$374 million allows the international community to help mitigate the worst effects of the ongoing crisis for Palestinian civilians. Delivered through a coordinated approach the CAP provides humanitarian assistance in the essential areas of food water health and nutrition and by increasing the protection of civilians.
