Project Description
This project promotes the inclusion of children with disabilities in schools and communities in two pilot regions of Ukraine Lviv and Crimea. This is achieved by building the capacity of targeted government bodies education institutions as well as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in both pilot regions to collaboratively develop policies which support the inclusion of children with disabilities in schools and communities establish inclusive education (IE) programs in universities and pedagogical institutes and encourage civil society to advocate and deliver services for these children.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project (March 2013) include: Policy frameworks were established facilitated the introduction of inclusive education approaches in schools and communities in the two pilot regions (Lviv and Crimea) and nationally. In addition the project has been instrumental for developing long-term programs to promote and support Inclusive education in the pilot regions. A total of 106 students in Crimea and 90 in Lviv participated in these programs. The role and capacity of civil society organizations was increased with support and advance inclusive education in the two pilot regions and nationally. The two Inclusion Resources Centres established by the project have provided support to at least 90 families.
