Project Description
The main goal of the project is to meet the needs of a modern economy by increasing access to quality training programs using a competency-based approach and ensuring that young graduates can find employment opportunities. Technical assistance is being provided to all main stakeholders of skills for employment with the intention of improving their management capacity. The project is divided in four components each focusing on the managerial ability to be achieved. Support is provided to managers of: (1) Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training; (2) public service operators; (3) training institutions; and (4) private sectors partners. It is expected that at the end of the project all main stakeholders involved in skills for employment become able to independently assume their responsibilities for ensuring the continued implementation and use of competency-based training.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of June 2014 include: The management skills of the Ministry of National Education and Professional Training (MENFP) were reinforced to include competency-based approaches (CBA) and gender mainstreaming. The management training skills were improved to incorporate CBA and address the type of public operators. The competencies of educational establishments were improved and assumed a larger responsibility in management. The capacity of private sector partners to fulfill their role in the management of professional training was increased.
