Project Description
This project aims at increasing the effectiveness of the Government of Ukraine in developing a national anti-corruption strategy and in building the capacity of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and other targeted organizations to draft legislation that does not create opportunities for corruption.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project (December 2012) include: Research and reports were completed on 14 corruption-related topics to inform the development of national anti-corruption policies by the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) in a fact-based and open manner. Information sessions were held in 11 Ukrainian cities with participation from 222 civil society representatives and local MOJ officials to enhance civil society engagement in MOJ’s anti-corruption work. MOJ’s understanding of the relationship between gender and corruption as it relates to higher education and social benefits to single mothers was improved by the completion and dissemination of the report and research on these topics. Project achievements worked to strengthen public sector capacity to design and deliver more effective and transparent legislation policies and services.
