Project Description
This project funds individual initiatives (sub-projects). It limits its activities to those sectors in which the Government of Ukraine has asked Canada to provide assistance including Public Administration Private Sector Development and Gender Equality. The project is improving the capacities of selected government institutions to formulate the implement effective gender-sensitive and reform-oriented policies that adhere to the public interest and to international standards.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of July 2013 include: The project produced 38 public policy documents on issues related to economic growth such as small and medium enterprises development and innovation gender equality and the regulatory framework for business. Five of these policies have been fully institutionalized. Government officials in Crimea improved their ability to streamline and optimize their budgeting and programming procedures using new guidelines for monitoring and evaluating. This resulting in savings of $212 million in the budget forecast between 2013 and 2020. Furthermore 26 training sessions and 95 information-sharing events helped build the capacity of government institutions to implement reform-oriented policies reaching over 1 000 beneficiaries.
