School Twinning - Conseil scolaire catholique et francophone du Sud de l'Alberta

This project twins Notre-Dame des Monts school in Canmore Alberta Canada with Kita A school in Kita Mali. The project enables the classes to share their perception of the world their culture their ideas their ambitions their successes their fears and their challenges. Activities include: discovering each other’s country learning about reading and writing strategies from a remedial teacher creating a quiz on each other’s cultures presenting the students’ own culture in the form of a play creating common research projects about universal problems and inviting an expert in the medical field into the classroom. This project is part of a two-year pilot initiative designed to engage Canadian and developing-country teachers and students in joint learning projects. The International School Twinning Initiative (ISTI) aims to provide an enriched interactive learning environment to benefit both Canadian and developing-country classrooms. Through the ISTI Canadian students and teachers gain greater insight into international development a greater appreciation of their role as global citizens and an enhanced ability to communicate international development issues. The ISTI is part of the Global Citizens Program which seeks to raise awareness and increase knowledge of international development and provide opportunities for youth to participate in international development.
