Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved by Transparency International through the support of DFATD and other international donors in 2012 include: (i) influencing high level policy discussions and providing recommendations related to: corporate transparency disclosure of payments and frameworks for victims of corruption to take asset recovery cases to court within the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group; the review of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption and the post-2015 Millennium Development Goals; and country enforcement of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s Anti-Bribery Convention; (ii) releasing a report on transparency in corporate reporting in the 105 largest publicly listed multinational companies following which over 20 companies contacted Transparency International to find out how to improve their ranking; (iii) mobilizing people to combat corruption in 57 countries via 77 Advocacy and Legal Advice Centres (eight of which were newly established in 2012) which assist victims of corruption and whistleblowers to address grievances; (iv) increasing the leadership and resource mobilization ability of some of Transparency International’s national chapters via training and small grants; and (v) publishing the 2012 Corruptions Perceptions Index which allows countries to see where they rank globally on levels of corruption. These results are contributing to reducing corruption globally and improving international standards of governance and levels of transparency.
