Project Description
This project is part of CIDA's International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) funded by the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy (YES). The IYIP contributes to the YES by providing a large spectrum of Canadian graduates with valuable international development work experience abroad.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of April 2011 include: (i) a Coastal Livelihoods Assessment project was completed for nine countries in the Western Indian Ocean region; (ii) a recycling program was developed for the Caribbean Maritime Institute campus in Jamaica; (iii) in the Philippines around 60 participants had enhanced the understanding of the role of women in community decision making; and (iv) the 19 participating interns all felt that they had increased their employability had a greater ability to make employment-related choices and increased their knowledge of international development issues.
