Project Description
This project is part of CIDA's International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) funded by the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy (YES). The IYIP contributes to the YES by providing a large spectrum of Canadian graduates with valuable international development work experience abroad.
Progress & Results Achieved
In Honduras the support of trainees at the Asociacion de Desarrollo Triunfena (ADETRIUNF) the Asociacion de mujeres defensoras de la vida the Instituto Hondureno de Desarrollo Rural (IDHER) and CARITAS Knowledge in organizational diagnosis networking systematization of experiments production of methodological guides for systematization marketing study institutional policy development and implementation of agricultural projects. In Nicaragua trainee support enabled FIDER to increase its capacity in the organization of local committees for the prevention of natural disasters and the treatment of gray water; INPRHU to develop new capacities in terms of communication tourism development and entomology; And Cooperative 10 de Mayo to develop new capacities in the marketing of agricultural products. In Peru the support of the trainees has strengthened the organizational capacities of the Instituto de Desarrollo y Medio Ambiente (IDMA) and the Red de productoras agricola ecologicas (REDPRAUSA) while helping women in this network to improve their Organic farming practices in semi-urban areas and to improve the marketing of their products; The staff of the Health Center of the Andean Region of Huamparan carried out awareness-raising activities in basic hygiene healthy eating and proper management of domestic residual materials; The Peruvian Ecological Agriculture Network (ERA) has improved its communication skills by enabling it to raise awareness of more people in ecological family farming. In Mali the support of the trainees (in 2010 and 2011 only) enabled the partner AMATEVI to develop new agricultural techniques in addition to being aware of the importance of good preparation for support activities and Training for farmers.
