Project Description
This projects aims to promote optimal iodine nutrition and the elimination of iodine deficiency disorders by supporting the International Council for the Control of Iodine Deficiency Disorders (ICCIDD). The ICCIDD's multidisciplinary global network consists of nine regional coordinators four sub-regional coordinators and over 600 specialists in all regions of the world. It works with governments and development agencies at the national level to ensure that adequate national programs are in place to achieve the goal of the elimination of iodone deficiency disorders (IDD). The ICCIDD contributes to the implementation independent evaluation and monitoring of these national programs. This grant supports one year of ICCIDD activities in Bangladesh Ethiopia Ghana Sudan and Tanzania.
Expected Results
The expected intermediate outcome is an increased percentage of households in Bangladesh Ethiopia Ghana Sudan and Tanzania having access to iodized salt.
