Improving Access to Vocational Training

Results achieved by the end of the project include the following: Several working meetings have been held with the Assemblée régionale and the Centre de formation professionnelle multiservice de Koulikoro. These meetings have enabled the Centre to position itself better in the Koulikoro region. Trainer training has been provided for the Centre’s instructors especially in steelwork. Among other things this training has made it possible to produce a number of appliances and tools including innovative and fuel-efficient wood or coal stoves. Partnership agreements have also been signed with industries and the Koulikoro association of artisans to host student trainees (girls and boys) including the agreement with Mali’s marine and steelwork industry. The environmental awareness component has made it possible to form a group of eco guides made up of those outside the education system to raise public awareness of the importance of recovery and recycling. A partnership agreement has been signed with Mali’s Ministry of the Environment and Sanitation to continue this work.
