Project Description

This project seeks to improve the level of education and the employment prospects of disadvantaged adults particularly women living in the District of Chincha. The project aims to rebuild the facilities of the Centre for Occupational Education (COE) that were destroyed in the 2007 earthquake and to provide women and men with basic education educational upgrade and life skills programs on topics such as communication leadership and money management. These skills enable them to access the COE's vocational and technical programs and to find better-paying employment opportunities. The courses given within this project are supplemented by workshops and debates open to the public particularly the male population on the importance of giving women the same employment opportunities available to men sexual harassment issues in the workplace and other related topics. This is one of two parts of a project valued at $500 000. The first part has been completed.
