Project Description
Through this project expected project activities include: 300 Ghanaian journalists attend 48 informal workshops 9 formal workshops and/or work individually with Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) trainers; 150 journalism students attend eight lectures on human rights reporting and/or attend the workshop and award series for students; 400 Ghanaian journalists become members of the Human Rights Reporters Network (HRRN). JHR trainers work one-on-one with Ghanaian journalists assisting in the production of 192 human rights stories; JHR and the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) reward one media institution for excellence in human rights reporting; ten Ghanaians are trained to facilitate human rights reporting training activities; Ghanaian journalists work in partnership with JHR trainers to investigate gender issues producing at minimum 28 gender-based stories; JHR develop one photo exhibit using 30 photos taken by JHR trainers and Ghanaian journalists. The exhibit tours eight Canadian universities accompanied by one JHR trainer; JHR trainers post 256 stories and journal entries on JHR's Foreign Correspondence website; and JHR overseas participants freelance 16 stories to the Canadian media.
