Project Description
March 2013 - Colombia continues to face the consequences of a longstanding armed conflict between several illegal armed groups and the Colombian military. This conflict has a significant humanitarian impact on the civilian population. With CIDA support Médecins du Monde is addressing basic healthcare needs of people affected by armed conflict in five isolated municipalities of Meta department Colombia. Project activities include: the activation of three mobile health clinics to provide primary healthcare services for 5 000 conflict-affected people; psycho-social support to 900 conflict-affected people; and capacity building for 58 vulnerable communities to increase their ability to support and to refer medical emergencies.
Expected Results
Expected outputs include: three mobile health units activated; primary healthcare services and psycho-social support provided to crisis-affected people; and the emergency response capacities of 58 communities strengthened. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people especially women and children.
