Project Description
March 2013 - With Canada’s support Action Against Hunger Canada helps to improve the health and means of livelihood of conflict-affected communities in North Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo. To this end Action Against Hunger Canada is implementing an integrated approach based on treating malnutrition as well as improving access to water sanitation hygiene and food security in North Kivu.
Expected Results
Expected outputs include: providing greater access to clean drinking water by rehabilitating water points; building latrines in conflict and displacement-affected areas; improving access to water and sanitation at health centres; monitoring and treating severe acute malnutrition; and improving the food security and means of livelihood of 3 275 vulnerable households (19 000 people) by revitalizing agriculture and diversifying sources of income. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected individuals especially women and children.
