Project Description
January 28 2013 - With Canada's support CARE Canada is providing assistance to off-camp Malian refugees returnees and their host communities in Tillabéry an area experiencing a chronic food deficit and the effects of the conflict in neighbouring northern Mali. CARE Canada is providing non-food items such as water storage containers and mosquito nets for 8 300 households; supporting hygiene promotion in host communities for 50 000 people; and providing cash transfers to 2 000 vulnerable households.
Expected Results
The project is expected to result in improved health and decreased risk of water-borne diseases for 50 000 people in a region affected by food insecurity and displacement and improved resilience and food security for 2 000 vulnerable families. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people especially women and children.
