Project Description
January 28 2013 - With CIDA support World Vision Canada is seeking to improve health and livelihoods in Ségou a region in Mali affected by displacement and insecurity as a result of the conflict in the north. World Vision is improving access to safe water and sanitation in Ségou by upgrading water and sanitation facilities in 7 health centres and by promoting improved hygiene and sanitation practices in 15 schools. In addition World Vision is assisting 350 internally displaced households (2 100 people) living with host families through cash transfer programming.
Expected Results
The project will result in improved health of an estimated 11 000 persons due to access to clean water and sanitation and in improved resilience and food security for 350 vulnerable families. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people especially women and children.
