Project Description
This grant represents CIDA’s support to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to lead efforts to improve the international humanitarian response system. OCHA as the lead agency for the coordination of humanitarian action plays a key and central role in spearheading the international community's efforts to improve the architecture of the humanitarian system. Couched under the term ‘Transformative Agenda ’ these efforts focus on strengthening the leadership coordination and accountability of humanitarian response. In particular OCHA will undertake actions to improve cluster coordination the caliber of humanitarian leaders programme cycle management needs assessment information management and strategic planning and monitoring.
Expected Results
Expected outputs include: Individuals who have the potential to become effective Humanitarian Coordinators (HCs) are identified; an inter-agency career development programme for potential HCs is established; the system for managing HC performance enhanced; the Multi-Cluster Initial Rapid Assessment (MIRA) manual is disseminated; and an initial monitoring and reporting framework for Level 3 emergencies is developed. The expected intermediate outcome is the reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people especially women and children.
