Project Description
With CIDA support in response to the unrest in Syria the UNHCR is providing multi-sector support for refugees and internally displaced people in Syria and Syrian refugees in neighbouring countries as well as assistance in registering and documenting refugee populations. Support includes the provision of shelter and household items basic services and protection. Support to this operation also includes support to some of the one million Iraqi refugees in Syria.
Expected Results
The expected immediate outcomes are: to maintain and consolidate a favourable protection environment including through timely registration and documentation; to address individual protection needs notably for victims of sexual and gender-based violence and children at risk; to meet basic needs and ensure access of refugees to essential services especially health and education with particular consideration for the most vulnerable; and to find and implement durable solutions mainly through resettlement and foster refugees’ empowerment.
