Project Description
With CIDA support Oxfam Quebec is meeting the immediate needs of targeted vulnerable families in the northern northern central and Sahel regions of Burkina Faso areas heavily affected by the food and nutrition crisis. Activities focus on: income generating initiatives including cash-for-work activities as well as cash transfers for vulnerable populations during the peak of the lean season; provision of seeds tools fertilizer and agricultural training to farm families and fodder to pastoral families; and improving access to water in regions where drought forces local communities and livestock to share the same water sources.
Expected Results
Expected outputs include: vulnerable families have access to alternative means of livelihood; vulnerable families have access to cash transfers during the height of the lean season; the livestock of pastoral families is protected by the provision of fodder and vaccination against disease; vulnerable farm families receive seeds tools fertilizer and agricultural training; and vulnerable families have access to a sufficient quantity of safe water. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people especially women and children.
