Project Description
With CIDA support World Vision is helping to save lives and protect livelihoods in the district of Barkeol Mauritania an area heavily affected by the food and nutrition crisis. Activities focus on: providing cash transfers coupled with the provision of seeds and tools; improving access to water; and community-based management of acute malnutrition with support to community volunteers and Health Centre staff to manage acute malnutrition caseloads.
Expected Results
Expected outputs include: acutely malnourished children under 5 as well as pregnant and lactating women benefit from acute malnutrition management; vulnerable families have access to cash transfers during the height of the lean season; and beneficiaries have improved access to safe water. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people especially women and children.
