Project Description
With CIDA support the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is working to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence in Central African Republic the Democratic Republic of Congo Chad South Sudan Sudan Pakistan Burma Philippines Colombia Iraq West Bank and Gaza and Yemen. Project activities focus on providing emergency assistance to victims of armed conflict; promoting International Humanitarian Law; and cooperating with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to help ensure a concerted and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of victims of armed conflict.
Expected Results
Expected outputs include: humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence including water sanitation and basic medical care; the ICRC’s mandate and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement’s neutral impartial and independent humanitarian principles are promoted to all stakeholders; and the ICRC and/or National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies receive safe access to populations in need. Expected intermediate outcomes include: vulnerable populations have greater access to humanitarian assistance; and increased operational capacities of the Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies.
