Project Description
With CIDA support World Relief Canada is addressing the basic needs of 42 690 conflict-affected people in Ed Daein and Kass localities South Darfur Sudan. Project activities focus on: increasing access to safe water supply and sanitation through the rehabilitation and maintenance of 18 water points and the construction of 6 institutional latrines and 500 household latrines; reducing malnutrition and improve health and hygiene practices through training sessions on communicable diseases; providing psycho-social support to women and children affected by the conflict through the establishment and operation of 4 child-friendly spaces; and reducing vulnerability of newly displaced populations through the distribution of non-food items seeds and tools.
Expected Results
Expected outputs include: new water points constructed and damaged water sources rehabilitated; construction of household and school latrines maintenance kits and hygiene materials distributed; training conducted on safe hygiene practices; distribution of non-food items; and construction of child-friendly spaces. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people especially women and children.
