Project Description
With CIDA support Doctors without Borders is working to reduce morbidity and mortality by providing basic health and medical care to displaced and violence-affected communities in the Ituri Haut-Uélé and Bas-Uélé regions of Orientale Province. Working in hospitals health centres and through mobile clinics Doctors without Borders is providing emergency medical services as well as putting in place an epidemiological surveillance system to improve the response capacity to outbreaks and medical emergencies.
Expected Results
Expected outputs include: the provision of emergency surgery; disease treatment (such HIV sleeping sickness malaria measles); paediatric care and reproductive health care; medical and psychological treatment for victims of sexual violence; and screening and treatment of acute malnutrition. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people especially women and children.
