Project Description
With CIDA support World Vision is scaling up its emergency health nutrition and water and sanitation programming in the heavily drought-affected regions of Zinder and Tohoua in Niger. Activities focus on the community-based treatment and management of acute malnutrition; capacity support to community health workers to absorb high caseloads of malnourished patients; improving access to safe water in health centres; and conducting awareness campaigns on safe hygiene and sanitation practices in affected communities.
Expected Results
Expected outputs include: therapeutic and supplementary feeding provided to patients suffering from acute malnutrition; damaged water sources rehabilitated in targeted health centres insecticide treated bed nets and hygiene materials distributed to malnourished children and their caregivers; and training conducted on safe hygiene practices. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people especially women and children.
