Project Description
25 October 2010 - Flooding in central Vietnam has left over 100 people dead 266 000 houses flooded and 142 000 people evacuated. The Government of Vietnam the Vietnam National Red Cross (VNRC) UN organizations and international NGOs have launched emergency relief operations to respond to the needs of the affected population. CIDA is supporting the IFRC (International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies) to deliver immediate humanitarian assistance in order to maintain the health and physical security for 6 000 households most severely affected by the flooding. Specific activities include: the distribution of non-food relief items household and hygiene items as well as drinking water and livelihood support.
