Project Description
15 June 2010 - Beginning on 10 June 2010 renewed violence between ethnic Kyrgyz and Uzbeks broke out in the cities of Osh and Jalalabad and several rural districts of southern Kyrgyzstan. About 75 000 people from the conflict area -- chiefly women and children - have fled into neighbouring Uzbekistan and there are reports that many thousands more people are trying to leave the conflict area. CIDA's contribution is helping the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) provide emergency humanitarian assistance including urgent medical care to 100 000 people affected by the civil conflict in southern Kyrgyzstan.
