Project Description
Armed conflict between Pakistani government forces and armed opposition groups has escalated across Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and North West Frontier Province (NWFP) since August 2008. Approximately 3 000 000 people were displaced due to violence of whom about 1.7 million have since returned to their home areas. Conflict and displacement continue in many parts of Pakistan and both the returnees and the internally displaced people (IDPs) require humanitarian assistance to meet their basic needs. CIDA's contribution is supporting World Vision to provide basic health services to returnees in Lower Dir District NWFP. Project activities include the provision of primary health care the repair and rehabilitation of water and sanitation facilities and the provision of health and hygiene education.
