Project Description
In the West Bank and Gaza the everyday lives of civilians continue to be disrupted by violence the destruction or confiscation of property inadequate water-supply and wastewater treatment facilities and mobility restrictions that impede access to essential services and means of livelihoods. CIDA's contribution is supporting the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to provide protection and assistance to civilians affected by the ongoing conflict in the West Bank and Gaza. Activities include providing emergency shelter hygiene items and other basic necessities to vulnerable conflict-affected households; introducing cash-for-work and other income-generating projects to support livelihoods; rehabilitating damaged water and wastewater treatment infrastructure; supporting medical services central medical stores and hospitals to be better prepared to respond to emergencies; and advocating for compliance by all parties to the conflict with their obligations under international humanitarian law.
