Project Description
In 2009 much of Sudan continues to suffer from the effects of many years of conflict both between north and south and in Darfur. Large numbers of people remain displaced or continue to be displaced without access to adequate medical care in the face of injury malnutrition and endemic disease. CIDA's support of MSF is helping it to provide access to emergency medical care in two areas of southern Sudan that have been badly affected by past and ongoing conflicts - the Abyei region a long disputed area between north and south and Jonglei State the site of particularly violent inter-tribal clashes throughout 2009. Overall MSF expects to assist more than 180 000 people over the span of this project.
