Project Description
Pakistan has witnessed one of the largest fastest displacements the world has seen in the last 15 years and certainly the largest in Pakistan's history. At the height of the conflict the United Nations estimated that more than 2 million people were displaced from their homes. Although the internally displaced population housed in temporary camps has begun to return home conflict and displacement continue in multiple districts and approximately 80% of the displaced remain with host families whose social and economic resources have been overwhelmed by the severity of needs and the duration of the conflict. The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) ensures the improved coordination of humanitarian response to displacements and natural disasters in Pakistan. This includes the provision of timely and essential interagency coordination as well as humanitarian mapping and information-sharing among all humanitarian partners to ensure efficient and appropriate aid to the conflict-affected population in Pakistan.
