Project Description
The deterioration in a variety of country contexts across Asia has led to rising numbers of civilian casualties and weapon-wounded patients being admitted to hospitals. Intensified humanitarian needs of displaced and conflict-affected individuals as well as increased burdens on local health facilities have resulted. CIDA's contribution is supporting the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to help meet the immediate clean water shelter medical care and material needs of displaced populations and the resident communities sheltering them. Activities also include supplying hospitals with supplies; technical support and supervision; staff training in war and clinical surgery; management training; facilities maintenance and support for hospital blood banks and transfusion services.
