Project Description
The ongoing conflict in Darfur and lingering effects of the civil war in the South combined with the impact of past drought and conflict have left much of Sudan food insecure and dependent on international aid. Despite the signing of the Peace Agreement in 2006 conflict displacement and insecurity continue. CIDA's contribution is supporting the World Food Programme (WFP) to distribute food assistance to meet the emergency needs of internally displaced persons host communities returnees and other highly vulnerable groups. The operation is expected to reach an estimated 5.6 million beneficiaries.
