Project Description
The recent intensification of the conflict between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has resulted in recurring population displacements in several of the districts of Northern Province Sri Lanka. The immediate needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities include access to basic healthcare and water and sanitation services and emergency shelter. CIDA's contribution is used to meet the humanitarian needs of IDPs in Mannar and Vavuniya Districts of Northern Sri Lanka through the provision of clean water temporary shelter materials and non-food items and the establishment of child-friendly spaces and cash-for-work activities.
