CIDA's contribution to this project is helping the World Food Programme (WFP) address the needs of the populations most vulnerable to natural disasters and seasonal food insecurity by helping to save lives in crisis situations; protecting livelihoods and enhancing resilience to shocks; contributing to the improved nutrition and health status of children mothers and other vulnerable groups; and strengthening the country's capacity to establish and manage food assistance and hunger reduction programs. This operation is expected to reach an estimated 675 000 beneficiaries.
