Project Description
This project supports the Protection Standby Capacity Project (ProCap) and the Gender Standby Capacity Project (GenCap) which seek to respond to priority gaps and needs in emergency protection and gender expertise by humanitarian actors. With DFATD’s support ProCap is strengthening emergency protection response through the deployment of members of a core team of senior protection officers as well as inter-agency training workshops practitioner exchange and development and dissemination of the ProCap protection tools. GenCap is strengthening gender expertise through the recruitment and deployment of senior gender mainstreaming and gender-based violence experts to humanitarian situations and by providing training and conducting lessons learned exercises on gender equality for international and national humanitarian staff and partners.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved strategic and operational protection response of United Nations agencies for internally displaced and other vulnerable populations; and (2) improved capacity of humanitarian actors at country level to mainstream gender equality and gender-based violence response and prevention programming into all sectors of humanitarian response. The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved suffering alleviated and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or facing acute food insecurity.
