Project Description
The purpose of this initiative is to conduct an in-depth needs assessment and prepare an action plan detailing the mandates policies organizational structures and human resources required to establish a Minerals Audit Authority in Kenya. A Minerals Audit Authority would promote the responsible and sustainable development of Kenya’s mining industry through sector-wide improved monitoring and auditing practices including environmental audit.
Expected Results
The expected results for this project include: 1) A needs assessment including identification of which Government bodies should be involved (and in what capacity) to promote the responsible and sustainable development of the mining industry through sector-wide improved monitoring and auditing practices; and 2) A comprehensive Action Plan detailing the mandates policies organizational structures and human resources required to establish a Minerals Audit Authority specific to the needs of Kenya.
Progress & Results Achieved
A final quality needs assessment and action plan report - detailing the mandates policies organizational structures and human resources required to establish a Minerals Audit Authority in Kenya - was produced and delivered to the Kenya Ministry of Mining. This will promote the responsible and sustainable development of Kenya’s mining industry through sector-wide improved monitoring and auditing practices including environmental audit.
