Project Description

This project aims to improve the quality of education in selected Jordanian public schools and refugee host communities. It seeks to meet the professional development needs of public school teachers from grades 1-10 in subjects such as Math Science Arabic and English. The project supports the Ministry of Education in meeting its goals regarding in-service teachers’ professional development training.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved instructional practices among teachers and school leaders in Jordanian schools; and (2) improved environmental practices in Jordanian schools.

Progress & Results Achieved

Results achieved at the end of the project (March 2024) include: (1) trained 36 485 educators (12 151 men and 24 334 women) in all 42 Ministry of Education directorates in Jordan. This training helped improve instructional practices among teachers and school leaders empowering teachers to work as facilitators and create student-centred learning environments that promote active engagement and foster collaboration and innovation among students; (2) delivered 10 key training programs to School Networks Schools Network Research Study Education for Environmental Sustainability Network Novice Teachers Instructional Leadership Continuous Professional Development Maximizing School Networks Impact Science Lab Technicians Social Studies program and the Educational Innovation Space; (3) accredited and embedded the following 4 main programs (School Network Program Advanced Instructional Leadership Professional Diploma Teacher Education Development Program and Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Education) in the Ministry of Education’s career path for educators in Jordan; and (4) supported 102 schools to participate in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Education program with 71 schools undertaking environmental projects on land utilization and organic waste recycling. The project enabled the training of 423 teachers on innovation and entrepreneurship in education to address environmental issues and equipped them with skills to identify local environmental issues and find innovative solutions.
