Project Description
The Assessment Capacities Project (ACAPS) is managed by a consortium of three international non-governmental organizations: Save the Children Action Against Hunger (ACF) and the Norwegian Refugee Council. This initiative aims to improve coordinated multi-sector needs assessments before during or after crises. With the support of DFATD and other donors ACAPS: develops innovative needs assessment methodologies and tools in order to provide faster more precise and cost effective assessments; trains organizations and experts; builds a roster of trained deployable assessment experts; and provides evidence-based analysis for decision-making during humanitarian crises.
Expected Results
The expected immediate outcomes for this project include: 1) improved global policies methodologies and tools for coordinated multi-sector needs assessments; 2) strengthened global network of assessment specialists with the capacity to promote support facilitate and use coordinated multi-sector assessments; and (3) improved coordination of multi-sector assessments in crises through the support or deployment of assessment specialists and continuous operational learning. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people especially women and children.
