Project Description

This grant represents Canada's institutional support to the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI). IATI uses these funds along with other donors' funding to achieve its objectives. IATI aims to make information about spending on international aid easier to access use and understand. Donor countries developing country governments and non-governmental organizations who have signed on to IATI commit to publishing more timely comprehensive and forward-looking information on international development assistance. IATI has developed a common open international standard for publishing this information. This grant supports the IATI Secretariat which maintains the IATI Registry and website; facilitates technical discussions related to the IATI standard data publication and use; assesses progress on open aid data; and provides technical support to publishers and users.

Expected Results

The expected intermediate outcome from the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) is increased publication and use of high-quality data on international development assistance. The expected outputs include: (i) the number of organizations publishing aid data as part of IATI is increased (target of 250 publishers by 2015); (ii) the number of queries from the IATI data store is increased (target of 500 per month); (iii) the quality of data is improved (80% of activities validating against the IATI Standard publishing monthly compliance statistics); (iv) the timeliness of IATI Standard updates is improved (adherence to a quarterly schedule); (v) the use of automatic data exchange is increased (target of five countries using such exchanges by 2015); and (vi) support to current and new publishers is improved (target of 90% of aid flows represented by IATI members by 2015).
