Project Description

The purpose of the Program Support Facility (PSF) is to increase the overall quality and effectiveness of development programming in Mongolia. The PSF intervenes in three different areas: (1) provision of technical and professional services; (2) knowledge-building analysis and dissemination; and (3) implementing aid effectiveness principles. Activities conducted under these areas are consistent with DFATD’s Mongolia Country Strategy 2012-2017 and benefit Mongolian partners including government and civil society.

Expected Results

Results achieved as of August 31 2015 include: Through a $100 000/2-year contribution to the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) the PSF contributed to increasing the knowledge of Members of the Parliament of Mongolia and Parliamentary staff on the management of the extractive sector. Supported by technical assistance provided by the project Parliament strengthened its forecasting of resource revenues; increased its capacity to analyze extractives data; played an active role in supervising mining contracts while applying Extractives Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) standards. Moreover the project promoted an active role for CSOs in dialogue with other extractive stakeholders at the national and subnational levels.
