Project Description
The Donor Committee for Enterprise Development (DCED) was established in 1979 as an informal organization of bilateral and multilateral donors engaged in small enterprise development managed by the World Bank Group. It has evolved to become the primary consultative group for most donors engaged in private sector development (PSD). In 2005 the DCED gained its autonomy from the World Bank with the adoption of its own Charter. The DCED provides a forum for donors to share knowledge experience and tools in PSD and to lead donor efforts to define and disseminate best practices harmonize donor programs and generally strengthen the effectiveness of PSD. The DCED has a number of working groups on specific areas that deepen coordination and facilitate the development of joint tools reflecting best practice.
