Project Description
The Census aims to provide uniform and comprehensive agricultural data on which government agencies farm organizations agribusinesses and producers rely on to reduce food insecurity increase rural competitiveness and sustainable agricultural productivity.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project include: (i) more than 4 000 census enumerators departmental supervisors municipal and regional directors of the National Institute of Statistics and the Department of Agriculture and Forests were trained; and (ii) 113 national census implementation units were established contributing to the completion of 262 546 household census surveys. Results of the census help better inform economists planners and policy-makers in the government the private sector and the donor community with information on the agriculture sector including gender equality issues. This in turn is contributing to improve the relevance of policies programs and investments for agriculture in Nicaragua better integrating the needs of women men and children.
