Project Description
The project aims to improve the quality of teacher training in Haiti by supporting the Ministry of National Education and Professional Training to develop a national policy for basic training and continuous learning for teachers. UNESCO and the Ministry also strengthen the ability of Education Science Faculties to develop and deliver basic training programs for teachers. They also support Haiti's Pedagogical Support Centres in developing and delivering continuous learning programs for teachers.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project (March 2018) include: (1) the national policy for the training of teachers and supervisory staff was endorsed in March 2018 by the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training. This policy covers initial training professional integration and continuing education; (2) the 2017-2027 implementation plan was developed; 3) training and teaching materials to provide psycho-social support and inclusive education have been provided to more than 900 teachers in 7 departments. These results have contributed to improving the quality of the education sector and strengthening the capacity of the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training to ensure that students benefit from an inclusive education that reinforces gender equality.
