Project Description
This project contributes to developing and rehabilitating the agricultural irrigation infrastructure in the zone of the Office du Niger in order to increase Mali's agricultural production. L'Office du Niger is the organization responsible for promoting the development of Mali's rice production in the Ségou region. It has put in place a massive gravitation irrigation system capable of serving 960 000 ha 85 000 ha of which have been developed and are being exploited.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: increased agricultural production and productivity of the producers of the Molodo scheme; improved institutional governance of the Office du Niger (ON) for a more sustainable and equitable agricultural and economic potential of the ON area.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of March 2018 include: 1) maintenance operations on 1 745 hectares were launched with a work completion rate of 30%; 2) the personnel of the l’Office du Niger were trained in results-based management; 3) result-based management was adopted as a methodology in developing a draft report on baseline data to establish the terms of reference for the project and identify performance; and 4) the l’Office du Niger's contracting capacities were strengthened.
