Learning on Gender and Conflict in Africa (LOGiCA)

At the end of 2013 gender-sensitive programming was developed in Burundi Rwanda and Uganda. Burundi and Rwanda developed and implemented Gender Action Plans while Technical Guidelines on Gender Mainstreaming were developed in Rwanda and Uganda. LOGiCA HQ and field staff were trained and now have an increased capacity in gender. The project intended to generate good practice on how to address gender and conflict issues. 6 pilot programs were supported in Côte d'Ivoire Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Liberia Uganda and at the regional level to address gender-specific issues arising from armed conflict. 21 good practices and knowledge products were developed and 16 disseminated in DRC Liberia Rwanda South Sudan Sudan Somalia Uganda and at the regional level. In Burundi 231 female and 620 ex-combatants received reintegration support. In Rwanda 24 female and 240 child ex-combatants did while 7 299 dependants received transportation and basic needs kits. In Uganda 2036 female and 167 child ex-combatants were referred to reintegration programs. 350 ex-combatants in Burundi and 1 541 in Rwanda received training on Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV). 3 591 survivors of SGBV in South Kivu (DRC) received specialized support including trauma-counselling while 71 health care professionals and lay personnel were trained in trauma. 1 000 male youth in Liberia and 350 male and 600 women in Uganda were supported on social and economic reintegration.
