Project Description

This project aims to develop linkages between international organizations operating in Haiti and local suppliers in order to promote the local economy and job creation. Key activities include: creating an online Haitian business directory providing sector-specific training to Haitian entrepreneurs and conducting and publicizing market research. The project aims to improve market access for small and medium-sized Haitian companies.

Progress & Results Achieved

Results achieved as of the end of the project include: over 157 400 visitors were referred to the business directory created by the project including 3 700 registered Haitian small and medium-sized enterprises in 27 different sectors of activities. This web portal provides a series of options to potential buyers and encourages economic growth in the country. Training and promotional activities strengthened the management ability of companies for example: 54 867 tenders were issued to the Haitian private sector 960 businesses were trained in contract management and 1 393 contracts were signed between suppliers and buyers. The total of the contracts is estimated at $35 million. These results have contributed to improving the quality of services provided by small and medium-sized enterprises and to increasing their revenue by giving them better access to economic opportunities.
