Project Description

The project supports the institutional development of the National Statistics Institute its provincial branches and delegated branches in other government departments and the strengthening of the National Statistics System as a whole. CIDA's contribution aims to enhance the Mozambican statistics system and improve the Government's ability to develop evidence-based poverty alleviation policies and programs. Activities include: (1) publishing annual country-wide statistical reports and disseminating the information to the public; (2) collecting analyzing and disseminating the results of a houshold budget survey and livestock and agriculture survey; (3) strengthening the capacity of provincial statistical offices to collect and analyze statistical data; (4) promoting inter-departmental cooperation on information exchange; and (5) developing a national statistics training centre.
