International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance - Institutional Support 2008-2010

This project represents Canada's institutional support to the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA). International IDEA uses these funds with other donors' funding to support its 2008-2010 Program of Operations. The Program aims to strengthen democratic and electoral processes and institutions worldwide. To meet this objective International IDEA undertakes regional initiatives in the following areas: integrated democracy building electoral processes effective political party assistance constitution building processes democracy and gender and locally-driven democracy assessment. These initiatives increase the availability of knowledge resources and capacity-building tools to encourage a greater understanding of issues surrounding democratic governance and to strengthen the democracy-building efforts policies and reforms of national regional and global actors.
