Project Description
This project provides core funding support to the Tanzania Education Network / Mtandao wa Elimu Tanzania (TEN/MET) for the implementation of its Strategic Plan 2007-2010. This Plan includes activities such as policy analysis research and publications networking and strategic alliance building monitoring of education policy implementation public policy fora and capacity building for network members. Together these activities enable TEN/MET to become a stronger organization that is better able to develop and coordinate the full potential and creativity of its members to carry out advocacy initiatives which facilitates effective civil society participation in policy processes to advocate for equitable access to quality basic education for all.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results as of June 30 2010 include: CIDA’s support to the Tanzania Education Network (TENMET) has contributed to improving existing education policies and programs through its participation in Ministry of Education and Vocational Training’s (MoEVT) 14 technical working groups committees and task forces. Information sharing and awareness on education policies and other critical education issues among members have improved. The project has contributed to building the capacity of members produced five training manuals and trained 80 members on financial management strategic planning monitoring and evaluation and policy advocacy. This initiative has also contributed to stronger and more widespread analysis of national education policies.
